Service Packages

Education Welfare Services (South West) Ltd has developed packages of Service to suit all School settings and budgets. As a Company we recognise that all Schools have individual needs, and we are therefore able to provide bespoke packages to support Schools to encourage full education. Some of the packages we offer:

  • Dedicated Education Welfare Service Staff, on your School site 1 day a week to support with Attendance processes. This could involve, home visits, Welfare checks, Attendance monitoring meetings etc. This package also gives the option for Schools to refer pupils who need extra support in attending school and would involve targeted casework to support the pupil and family to engage in education. This package can also include support in providing evidence for School to support any legal process, should this be needed. The Education Welfare Officers can also work with your School to advise on your attendance process and supply resources and guidance on how to improve attendance interventions when required.
  • These packages are designed for small schools/primary settings, where advice and guidance are provided by the Education Welfare Officer. In addition, there is the opportunity to include a small number of referral cases for more targeted work. Within this package the Education Welfare Officer can work with your School to monitor whole School attendance, advise on interventions and attend parents' meetings alongside School staff to add support to the attendance process. (This package can be entered into by individual Schools or a group of Schools)
  • This package is designed for a School that needs the support remotely with advice and guidance. This can include information on current DFE guidance, LA Guidance and Advice on attendance processes. This can include in person meetings on School site, by prior arrangement. However, it does not include direct contact with pupils or families.
  • This package allows for all school attendance letters, meeting invites, notes, spreadsheet updates etc. to be performed by our dedicated Remote Attendance Administration staff. All work will be provided with Schools full agreement and all communications are sent via the school communication systems. This package takes away the need for a member of School staff to undertake the administration side of attendance monitoring. Our staff will access attendance monitoring systems and support you to move through your attendance processes promptly.
  • This is for specialist one off projects that may be required. This is put together in discussion with the school and could be on a particular area that needs attention, for instance, Year 6 transition work, school attendance audits, support in setting up school attendance process etc.

Quotes

Headteacher, Somerset

As a school, we have worked with Education Welfare Services South West (EWS-SW) for the best part of a decade. We have always found the team to be very supportive and a mine of information, when consulted for advice. EWS-SW ensures that their staff are fully up to date with the latest developments in attendance guidance and law - as a result, they are able to ensure that we run robust and effective attendance procedures. EWS-SW have also trained our staff in how to run effective school attendance meetings - they also support us in carrying out rigorous welfare checks when required. In our most recent deep dive around attendance, it was noted that ‘EWO collaboration is exemplary with robust dialogues witnessed to support and challenge the school.’ The team are friendly, approachable and very much part of our community. We really value the support and expertise they provide.

Assistant Headteacher, BANES

Your support has been invaluable to me and my staff and has helped us shape a new school attendance model

Primary School Headteacher, Bristol

Our school has benefitted from working with an EWO as it has supported us in refining which data we need to be looking at, providing advice around more complex holiday requests, supporting home visits and leading meetings with our families around attendance- identifying the challenges and considering ways forward. Our new learning mentor has benefitted from support in completing paperwork, such as Penalty Notices and our pupil's attendance across the school has gone up as a result

Pastoral Manager, Somerset

Thank you for all the support you have given me over the year!! Honestly, I don't think I could have done the attendance without you

Deputy Head Teacher, Dorset

Working with the EWO has been a genuine pleasure. The EWS team are solution focused and robust in their challenge to bring about real change and provide attendance solutions for students and families.
